Capricorn Way, Liverpool
A residential development on disused land close to Bootle town centre on the former site of the Mersey House tower block which was demolished in 2016. The redevelopment of this site provided a 100% affordable scheme of 28no. dwellings and was developed in partnership with Sefton Council and a local housing provider.
The development seeks to complement the existing context through its use of traditional materials and detailing to preserve the character of the area, with bespoke details to add variety to the street scene.
The dwellings have been orientated to have their primary aspect overlooking the main vehicular and pedestrian access, with low level railings and hedge planting proposed to the front and side boundaries. Large private gardens extend towards the rear of each property providing quality amenity space for the resident families. Existing key pedestrian routes have been maintained and enhanced, whilst new pedestrian links through the site have been re-established to better integrate the proposed scheme with the existing residential context and nearby supermarket.
