Recently announced as the LABC Regional Winner for the Best Residential Extension, a simple but dramatic house extension project. Full rear and side wrap around extension, with all views and visual focus on the much loved garden to allow for framed views out. The large corner glazing with glazed sliding doors, vaulted roof and large format openable roof lights were suggested to increase the perceived size of the space and create a beautiful bright natural light quality internally.  The plan is not large or excessive, and therefore the client required clever use of layout design and approach to storage, to maximize the internal area available - within the budget.

Aspirations were to create a modern, single storey extension which housed an open-plan Kitchen, living and dining space, with utility room and ancillary spaces that would be predominantly lit with natural light, all reducing the need for artificial light, and allowing for natural ventilation.
